Course Overview
This is a tried and tested course that has been developed to suit the needs of a modern care home environment
and to comply with Government requirements.
Apart from the fact that it is a legal requirement that fire safety training is provided to all employees. It
has also been proved time and time again that a well trained workforce not only reduces the risk of fire, but in the
event of one, will respond quickly and effectively to minimize the damage.
Each course is tailored to suit the needs of the company in which it is held, and all courses are tutored by
either experienced fire-fighters or suitably trained fire trainers.
The First Response Team only use experienced fire training professionals who provide an exciting training
experience using the latest equipment and focusing on the teaching of realistic fire safety management techniques.
This course is run on-site to allow the trainer to gear the course content to your needs.
Who is it for?
This course is suitable for all employees (particularly new employees) who may need to use a fire extinguisher
in an emergency and who require fire awareness training as part of an employees legal responsibilities.
The course is designed to give staff the confidence to deal with an emergency situation should it arise.
Topics covered
- The common causes of fire
- The principles of fire
- Safety management
- The effects of fire and smoke
- The development, spread and suppression of fire
- The actions to take in the event of a fire/hearing an alarm
- Horizontal evacuation and compartmentation procedures relevant to your care home
- Fire extinguisher selection and use (Annual course only)
Course Objectives
The course will ensure that all staff have the training necessary for them to carry out their duties in an emergency
and ensure that they have correct fire awareness training as part of an employees legal responsibilities.
Assessment
A certificate of attendance will be issued to delegates attending the full duration of the course.

2 hours (6 monthly training)
3 hours (Annual training - to include fire extinguisher training)
