Emergency First Aid for Sport and the Health Club Industry
Course Overview
This tailor made one day course offers basic training and understanding of the priority first aid
requirements that may occur within the Health Club Industry or within a sport environment.
Who is it for?
All organizations as a minimum legal requirement must appoint a person to take charge of first aid
arrangements including looking after first aid equipment and facilities and calling the emergency services
when required.
It includes training in:
- Understand the role of the appointed person including reference to the use of available equipment and the need for recording incidents and actions
- Understanding the importance of basic hygiene in first aid procedures
- Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency
- Demonstrate how to administer first aid safely, promptly and effectively to a casualty who is unconscious and / or in seizure
- Demonstrate how to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (C.P.R) promptly and effectively. (Including explanation and demonstration of the updated Resuscitation changes of December 2005)
- Demonstrate how to administer first aid safely, promptly and effectively to a casualty who is wounded or bleeding and/or in shock
- Demonstration and explanation of an Automatic External Defibrillator (A.E.D) and its potential benefits within the Health Club environment
- Demonstrate how to provide life saving care to a casualty with a suspected neck/back injury
- Demonstrate how to provide life saving care to a casualty with a head injury
