The law regarding Fire Safety in the United Kingdom has just gone through a dramatic change.
On the 1st October 2006 the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order, came into force leaving
employers facing up to two years in prison if they fail to comply.
All existing fire legislation has been repealed and replaced with the new order and its requirements.
Fire certificates will no longer be issued.
They have been replaced with the requirement for each employer to complete a Fire Safety Risk Assessment.
The new regulations will apply to all workplaces/premises.
In the case of an event and following investigation if it is found you have been negligent in one or more
areas of your risk assessment you will be prosecuted.
